Saudi & French DJs reunited for Fête de la Musique - Cosmicat X Yann Dulché

One is a pianist, DJ and composer in full swing in the land of Daft Punk, Laurent Garnier, Etienne de Crécy and other artisans of the famous French Touch. The other carries the banner of DJing in a kingdom where the discipline is still in its infancy but where talents are beginning to reveal themselves. French Yann Dulché and Saudi Cosmicat – alias Nouf Sufyani – combine their art to compose an eclectic piece, a token of friendship between two cultures having so much to share.

The two music lovers are not at their first collaboration. After having scoured the clubs of Rouen (Normandy) and the four corners of the world behind his turntables, Yann Dulché has been producing and collaborating internationally for almost 10 years, via his label Thrills & Beats Records.

Two paths and a first meeting

It was in the bend of one of his world appearances – the PUBG World Cup in Riyadh in December 2019 – that the Frenchman met his Saudi alter-ego with whom he produced, a few months later, Dilemma. The track was also played by Yann at the top of the Gros Horloge in Rouen (Normandy) for a dizzying video clip produced by Poz Music.

Before Dilemma, Yann Dulché and the PUBG World Cup, Cosmicat was Nouf Sufyani, a TV host on the Saudi channel MBC 1, a dental student and an unconditional house music fan. In her spare time, the Saudi woman used to enjoy mixing and remixing her favorite tracks in a country where concert halls and musical events were too rare for local talents to fully express themselves. It took events like the MDL Beast Festival and the PUBG World Cup in Riyadh to bring her skills to the forefront, making her the first female DJ in Saudi Arabia, and a collaboration with Yann to export her talents outside of Arabia. Her stage name – Cosmicat – is a reference to her love for cats and… cosmology.

A collaboration under the aegis of Generation 2030

On June 21, date of the Fête de la musique, it will be the second musical creation that the Frenchman and the Saudi woman will produce together. Yann Dulché will be playing the piano on the rooftops of the Beaubourg-Marais district in Paris while Nouf will be warming up her turntables on a perched terrace in Al Balad, the historic district of Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) on the shores of the Red Sea.

This new collaboration, organized by Generation 2030 will be broadcasted at 6pm (Paris Time) live on Facebook and promises a fresh wind on the independent electro scene.
